The Congregational Representative Program
The Congregational Representative Program (CR) provides a great way for the local church to partner with the Canadian Bible Society. By working together we can help move forward the Bible cause.
How can we help your church?
- By providing FREE Bibles for Baptism, child dedications or christenings to churches with an active Congregational Representative.
- By providing a variety of resources to be used in your church's ministry.
- By providing special resources that encourage members of your congregation to read and study the Bible.
- By giving your church the opportunity to share in the translating, publishing and distributing of Scriptures that can change lives throughout the world.
The Canadian Bible Society will work with the CR to determine age appropriate Bibles to be given on these occasions.
When the active CR learns of an upcoming baptism, christening or dedication, he/she needs to provide particulars of the recipient (name, church and date of occassion) so the district office can personalize the Bible for the CR to present on the day or another day convenient to the church (see sample script below). If the CR is not comfortable doing the presentation he/she can stand with the Pastor and have the Pastor do the presentation. The idea is to let the congregation know who the CR is and it's the CBS that's giving the Bible.
Our Support to the CR:
Each Congregational Representative is given:
- A CR program binder that highlights available tools and resources
- A quarterly program update mailing that highlights the tools and resources available for that quarter
- Ongoing training and encouragement from the District office
