Proclamation

A powerful new way to sow the seed…
A growing number of Canadian churches and communities are discovering a new kind of event: Proclamation - The Word of the Lord.
Proclamation a group of churches gathering to read the Bible — aloud, in public, from beginning to end, with no doctrinal comment or commentary. Most Proclamation readings take 10 days, often just before Easter.
Proclamation began in the Spring of 1995 in Rosemere, Quebec. But the roots of PROCLAMATION are as old as the book of Nehemiah. There in the eighth chapter, Ezra the priest reads the law aloud to the whole assembly of Israel, from beginning to end-and spiritual renewal followed.
Here’s how it works…
The Bible will be read over a 10-day period for 14 hours a day (with certain exceptions).
During each hour(45 minutes of reading, 15 minute refreshment break), readings are scheduled from the Old Testament, New Testament and Psalms. Readers may read for 5-, 10-, or 15-minute periods according to their wishes. They may read more than once in the course of an hour, with a break between their readings. They may also read several times during the course of the 10 days.
A reading captain will be on hand at all times to assist readers. The exact Book, Chapter and Verses allotted to readers are identified when they arrive. In special circumstances, they can be allotted in advance. A bookmark is provided for each reader for there ease of reference. The Reading Captain alerts when the time has come for reading.
We encourage you to be creative. Perhaps your family would like to come together and read successively as a family. Or your church study group, fellowship group, youth group, or school group would like to take part during their usual meeting time. Come and be readers and hearers of the Word together.
